Writing Your Own Research Paper + Create a Coding Project!
A recap of our Research Paper Writing and Coding Summer Camps!

At Intelliher, we realized there is a severe lack of accessibility and preparation for students to learn about writing their own research paper. We decided to tackle this issue and provide our very own Research Paper Writing Camp. This blog post will go over several tips to create your own research paper shared at our camp and share various research opportunities for aspiring students.
Tips From Camp:
Choosing a well defined topic (narrow and specific)
Gather data from reputable sites (academic databases, libraries, government websites, news sources, college websites, data collection tools)
When taking notes, ensure you write down which source the information came from. This will make it easier when citing your sources at the end
Strong thesis statement - It guides the direction of your writing and helps maintain focus
Develop a structured outline
Create an engaging introduction that starts with a hook - Grabs attention
Critically analyze - Don’t summarize the sources. Connect it back to your idea and how the evidence supports it. Include contradictions and limitations when discussing results as well.
You should also plan on seeking feedback from any mentors or peers. They can offer valuable insights or catch weaknesses you may have overlooked.
Format according to instructions (citation style, font style, font size, spacing, etc.)
Research Opportunities:
There are several opportunities for students to get involved with research, including remote and in-person programs. Many of these programs are hands-on and feature mentors that have attended prestigious universities, and we highly recommend passionate students to take these!
Inspirit AI (Deadline: July 31) - Inspirit AI provides AI research opportunities with instructors from Stanford University, Google, Harvard, and more. Students will combine AI for social good, with some previous projects being AI + Criminal Justice and AI + Fake News Detection.
Lumiere (Fall Cohort Deadline: Aug 27) - Lumiere’s select programs allows students to conduct and write their very own research with world-class researchers. Some topics that they explore are: Biology, Psychology, Physics, Computer Science, and much more.
Headwaters Research Institute - Students will be able to select their own research project and will be mentored by a professional student. Students can conduct field research and learn to analyze their findings. Their paper will then be submitted for publication.
Polygence - Polygence offers personalized research experience that is flexible and tailored towards you. Offering three different programs, they allow students to publish their own research paper, create podcasts, or even prototypes of their ideas.
These are some research opportunities that are open year-round. For those who are looking for Summer research opportunities, be sure to search online around December to February, as March is the typical deadline for more competitive programs. It is best that you sign up for their emailing lists or bookmark the page so you do not forget!
